Portable
The portable technology proposed by Quantic Water Systems is a turnkey solution to waste water generated during hydraulic fracturing. Typically, this waste water has been permanently removed from the water cycle through injection into salt water disposal wells. Our solution allows water to be treated at the well site and then available for reuse in fracking operations. Processing water at the wells site saves on waste water removal and disposal costs, as well as water sourcing fees.
Waste Water Treatment Facility
Our proposed treatment facility is capable of processing 1 million gallons a day of waste water from the unconventional oil and gas industry. Our propriety process is capable of removing the suspended and dissolved solids (salts) from the fracking wastewater including both initial flowback and produced waters. During the first phase of treatment; grit, free oil, fine suspended solids and iron are removed to yield a “clean brine” which contains primarily sodium chloride, calcium chloride, and potassium chloride. This brine could be reused as feed water to frack a new well or to refrack an existing well.
With the second phase of treatment, the clean brine can be further processed to remove these salts, producing a dry granular salt product and fresh water.
The waste water is cleaned to a point where it can be reused as feed water for new wells or other industrial uses. The salt recovered is of high enough quality to be used as an industrial feedstock or road salt. This process will provide a viable alternative to deep well injection, which government regulation may restrict or eliminate in the near future.
The “fresh water” produced has many industrial uses as well as for reuse in hydraulic fracturing. With minor additional polishing, it can be potable or suitable for surface discharge. The salt produced meets current specifications for road salt and also has industrial uses.
